About

This package lets editors change Payload `richText` fields in place on a rendered page instead of opening the admin form. It is one part of payload-onpage, a set of tools for on-page editing and draft previews in Payload CMS with Next.js. The package reads and writes Payload's Lexical JSON format, so content saved here stays compatible with the stock `@payloadcms/richtext-lexical` editor. The editor is registered under the `richText` field type through `lexicalEditors`, which the Next.js adapter includes by default. The editor component loads lazily, so its code is fetched only when someone opens a rich text field. Text blocks, headings, quotes, lists, line breaks, tabs, and links are editable with a formatting toolbar. Other node types, such as uploads, blocks, and relationships, are kept byte-for-byte and shown as placeholders, so they survive an edit without being altered. The package has peer dependencies on `lexical` and the `@lexical/*` packages at versions `~0.50.0` or `~0.52.0`, and on React 19. Those versions match what Payload 3.90 ships with its Lexical rich text field. The `.` entry exports the editor registry and conversion helpers, and the `./editor` entry exports the React component and node classes.
