Enhanced Sidebar
Adds tabbed, icon-based navigation to the Payload admin sidebar so collections and globals can be grouped into separate panels.
Installation
pnpm add @veiag/payload-enhanced-sidebar About
This plugin replaces the default Payload admin navigation with a tabbed sidebar. A vertical icon bar on the left switches between panels, and each panel lists the collections and globals you assign to it. Tabs take `collections` and `globals` arrays, and any tab that omits both shows everything. Links such as a Dashboard shortcut or an external documentation page sit alongside the tabs. A tab can also carry its own `href`, so one click navigates to a route and opens its panel at the same time. It hooks into Payload through `admin.components.Nav`, which the plugin overwrites on every run, so a custom Nav set in the config will be lost. Custom items can be added to any tab, merged into an existing group by name, or pinned to the top of the list. Badges can be driven by an API endpoint, a collection count, or a React provider. The plugin also accepts custom React components for the tab button, icon, nav content, group, item, and the content area of a tab. Those components are registered through the import map. Tab icons come from the Lucide set by name. The `tabs` option has a default that gives a Dashboard link and a single tab with every collection. Labels can be localized per language, and the plugin adds its own translation strings to `i18n.translations`. Tabs accept an `access` function that runs on the server to hide a tab, and tab ids must be unique or the config build throws an error. The package is written for Payload 3.75 and later, and its SCSS styles are only loaded through the `/client` entry, which means the root export is safe to import from `payload.config.ts`.
