About

This plugin turns an ordinary Payload `json` field into a set of admin components. Editors fill in text, number, date, select, checkbox, upload, rich text, list, group, accordion, and tabs fields inside the document, and the values are saved back into the same json column. The form itself is built in a drawer inside the admin panel, so fields can be added, renamed, reordered, and nested without a code change or migration. The stored value holds the form description (kind, key, and value for each node), and the site reads the plain object of keys. Adding a new section does not change the database schema, because the column stays a single json field. The plugin attaches a custom Field component to every json field it finds in collections and globals, and it adds its own global (default slug `json-form`) that holds a Lexical rich text anchor when `richText` is configured. Without a Lexical editor, the rich text kind is left out of the palette. The `build` option controls who may change a form, using a role, a list of roles, or a custom rule. The `uploads` option sets the collection that the upload kind selects from (default `media`). The `library` option adds a global of reusable sections. A json field marked with `shares: true` can point at a library section, which keeps the form in one place while each document keeps its own values. Changes to a library form show up on every page that uses it. The package requires Payload 3.84 or later, React 19, and the Lexical rich text package as an optional peer.
